Evening Ozeki

Hej there! Evening Ozeki is my digital home and place to unwind.

Evening Ozeki? 🌙

An Ozeki is the second highest rank in the sport of sumo. It is reserved for powerful, consistent and well-respected rikishi (wrestlers). I have a love for the sport of sumo and wanted to incorporate it into my blog somehow. I chose to steer clear from using the highest ranking name, Yokozuna, because that title comes with an expectation of extreme dignity and grace. I don’t believe I possess enough of either quality to warrant that name 😅.

As for the “evening” aspect of the name… well, I thought it just sounded cool. I train late at night and it just felt befitting to call myself an evening Ozeki, as that is when I transform into having that warrior mindset.

About me 🧌

🏋️‍♂️ I am a 30-something year old with a beautiful family. I was once a nationally competitive Olympic weightlifter and have since turned my focus to sumo style training. Shiko until you can’t stand up! It’s good for the mind and the body.

🪴 My family and I have a small garden, which I will likely talk about on here quite often when it’s in season.

🥁 I have played drums since I was about 11 years old and continue to make music in one way or another to this day.

🇸🇪 I am studying Swedish (albeit, not often these days) and may sprinkle in a bit of that from time to time for practice.
