Good little worker bees
My wife and I were talking last night and I mentioned wanting to snag one of our children out of school for a day in the next month or so to have a fun day out with fewer crowds.
She said āI donāt really think a day off would hurt!ā
That got me upset. Not at what she said, but at the idea that we should be worrying about a day off for fun at all. All that bullshit idea does is train everybody to be little machines that remain productive for a minimum of 8 hours a day for 5 days a week. Fuck off. Missing school or work every now and then should never feel like a guilty pleasure. It should be mandatory!
I refuse to let my kids grow up thinking that theyāre āgetting away with somethingā or to be afraid of not getting that coveted perfect attendance award. They will know that having fun and enjoying life is never a secret little treat. Rather, itās the whole point.
Happy Wednesday. In Sweden, they would say itās lillƶrdag. That essentially translates to little Saturday. A mid-week break to unwind and have a drink or hang with friends/family. I say we all start to embrace that mindset.
